History
Arco Strings was founded in 2002 by Katie Bast, Andrea Noteboom, and Kjell Stenberg; three friends who enjoyed playing music together and wanted to continue their performing beyond college. They have performed for over 100 events in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. Because all of our members are string players, we adopted the name "Arco," which means "to play with the bow."
Arco Strings has grown over the last ten years to include several local freelance musicians in the Twin Cities who collaborate in a number of formations to meet the needs of various events. This growth also allows the group to be able to be flexible for multiple performances on any specific date.
Arco has had the pleasure of being featured performers at the James J. Hill Library, The Womens' Club of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, weddings, corporate events, and various retirement homes throughout the area.
Our members have all received both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music and enjoy making each performance meaningful.
